The ART&TUR – International Tourism Film Festival will take place in Ovar from October 27 to 30, 2026, showcasing the best tourism films from around the world in Portugal.
Recognized as one of the most prestigious international festivals dedicated to promoting destinations, regions, and cultures through cinema, ART&TUR has been part of the CIFFT – International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals circuit since 2008. The festival is celebrated for creating value for regions and strengthening Portugal’s brand on the international tourism and audiovisual stage.
The 2026 edition puts Ovar in the spotlight, emphasizing its rich local resources and unique cultural identity. Highlights include the Ovar Carnival, the Ria de Aveiro, local fishing traditions, the iconic Pão de Ló de Ovar, and the renowned urban tilework. These cultural landmarks will offer participants, professionals, and visitors a distinctive tourism and cultural experience.
The Ovar Mayor, Domingos Silva, expresses his enthusiasm: “For four days, Ovar will be a meeting point for dialogue, sharing, and creativity. We will be the main stage where cinema and tourism intersect, in harmony with the Ria, the Sea, the Forest, the Tiles, and the sweet Pão de Ló de Ovar. Everyone is very welcome to our territory.”
Rui Ventura, president of Turismo Centro de Portugal, highlights the significance of Ovar as the festival venue: “Festival participants will discover a vibrant city with strong ties to culture and heritage, offering rich and appealing settings for audiovisual production. ART&TUR is a powerful tool for tourism and audiovisual promotion, consistently boosting the international profile of Central Portugal. This edition is sure to be a major success.”
Over four days, Ovar will host the international tourism film community, including directors, producers, tourism organizations, researchers, students, and the general public. The program features official competitions, special screenings, conferences, networking, and celebrations of audiovisual media as a strategic tool for territorial promotion.
