The ART&TUR - International Tourism Film Festival and TAP Air Portugal have renewed their strategic partnership for the fifth consecutive year, allowing the festival’s winning videos to be featured in the Portuguese airline’s onboard entertainment program.
Since the beginning of this partnership in 2022, more than 200 films from various editions of the festival have been reviewed for possible inclusion in the program. From this group, over 50 films have been selected and integrated into TAP’s onboard entertainment platform, enabling millions of passengers to access audiovisual content dedicated to promoting destinations, cultures, and tourism experiences.
TAP carries around 4.5 million passengers per year on aircraft equipped with this audiovisual platform, representing a significant potential audience that can watch these films about Portugal during their flights. “This collaboration has significantly expanded the international visibility of the productions presented at ART&TUR, transforming TAP flights into a privileged space for the dissemination of tourism cinema and storytelling about Portugal’s territories, heritage, and cultural identity,” the organization states.
For Mariana Calaça Baptista, Director of ART&TUR, the partnership represents a “unique opportunity to bring the work of filmmakers and producers from around the world to a global audience, strengthening the connection between cinema, tourism, and the travel experience. It provides the films participating in the Festival with an immeasurable return compared to the effort of participation, while giving visibility to the work of municipalities and audiovisual producers who dedicate their talent to promoting destinations through film.”
For TAP, the inclusion of this content “reinforces its commitment to diverse cultural programming and to promoting destinations through inspiring audiovisual storytelling, enriching the entertainment experience for its passengers.”
The 2026 edition of the ART&TUR Festival, which annually brings together professionals from the fields of cinema, tourism, and communication from several countries, will take place from October 27 to 30 in Ovar, gathering professionals, filmmakers, and international experts to celebrate the best films dedicated to destinations and travel experiences.
ART&TUR is a member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), the global network that brings together leading tourism film festivals and annually defines the World’s Best Tourism Films through its international ranking.
